Marriott
International, Inc. (NYSE:MAR) has announced that it has been named to
manage the new 371-room JW Marriott Hotel Mumbai in India, which is
scheduled to open next year.
The hotel is being developed by Juhu Beach Resorts Private Ltd., a
special purpose company formed by the Raheja Group and Mecca Properties
Development Private Ltd., both of which are deeply involved in
commercial real estate development in India.
The JW Marriott Hotel Mumbai will be located on Juhu Beach,
approximately 20 kilometers north of the Mumbai central business
district and 15 kilometers southwest of the international airport. Juhu
is one of Mumbai’s premier residential areas, as well as home to many of
India’s famous film stars.
When opened, it will be the first JW Marriott Hotel in India and 19th in
Marriott International’s JW Marriott Hotel portfolio. JW Marriott Hotels
are targeted toward business and leisure travelers who require a higher
level of comfort and service than is generally provided by upscale
hotels.

For dining and recreation, the JW Marriott Hotel Mumbai will have three
restaurants and a lobby lounge and bar offering nightly entertainment.
Other amenities will include an exclusive club that will cater to hotel
guests and private members. It will have a full health club and day spa,
three squash courts, a tennis court, billiards room, indoor game room
and prestigious club restaurant and lounge.
Other amenities will include 67 executive floor guest rooms and lounge,
retail shops, outdoor swimming pool, travel and limousine desk, and
underground parking for 63 automobiles.
For conferences and social events, the JW Marriott Hotel Mumbai will
have 1,210 square meters of flexible space, including a 670-square-meter
ballroom that is divisible into three sections; four additional meeting
rooms, two of which can be divided into two sections; and a
70-square-meter board room.
In India, the Marriott lodging presence currently consists of the
following hotels:

- 237-room Lakeside Chalet Marriott Executive Apartments in Mumbai
- 202-room Renaissance Goa Resort
- 135-room Ramada Hotel Manohar in Hyderabad
JW Marriott Hotels are currently operating in Dubai, Bangkok, Kuala
Lumpur, Hong Kong, Seoul, Mexico City, Quito and in four U.S. cities
(Atlanta; Houston; Oahu, Hawaii; and Washington, D.C.)
