The Lufthansa
Miles & More programme is introducing three innovations for frequent
flyers. From 1 September Lufthansa Senators and Frequent Travellers will
be awarded more bonus miles, all of which have unlimited validity and
can be transferred to third parties.
Lufthansa Senators and Frequent Travellers can collect additional status
miles and award miles on all flights with Lufthansa and its Star
Alliance partners. An extra 25 per cent Executive Bonus will be added to
the normal mileage credit for every flight. For example, a Lufthansa
Status customer will accrue 28,440 miles as opposed to the usual 22,752
miles for a return flight in Business Class from Hong Kong to Frankfurt.
With the Executive Bonus a Status customer on a return flight from
Frankfurt to Paris in Economy Class will collect 2 500 instead of 2 000
miles. The miles can be exchanged for awards and will also be counted
towards qualification as a Lufthansa Senator or Frequent Traveller.
As of 1 September, all award miles collected by Lufthansa Senators or
Frequent Travellers since 1 July 1997 will remain valid indefinitely. In
the past, unused miles expired after three years. Passengers who fail to
attain the Senator or Frequent Travellers' status will be able to use up
all the miles in their acount for a further three years.
The third Miles & More innovation is of particular interest for friends
and acquaintances of frequent flyers. From 1 September, Senators and
Frequent Travellers can transfer awards for private trips to individuals
of their choice, even if they are not going to be accompanying them .
These participants can take advantage of award flights as well as
upgrades into the next highest service class.
From 1 September Lufthansa Senators who have not collected sufficient
miles for a particular award or upgrade will be allowed an “overdraft”
limit of 160 000 miles.
Senators and Frequent Travellers enjoy special benefits such as higher
free baggage allowances, access to lounges, waiting list priority and
exclusive service telephone numbers. |
