MARRIOTT INTERNATIONAL OPENS LUXURY JW MARRIOTT HOTEL SEOUL

Marriott International, Inc. opened the 497-room luxury, full-service JW Marriott Hotel Seoul, the city’s first Marriott hotel.

Located in Kangnam in southern Seoul, the hotel is situated at Central City, the country’s largest multi-purpose complex which houses state-of-the-art movie theaters, a luxury department store, Korea’s largest bookstore, an urban amusement theme park, restaurants and direct access to the subway station. In addition, Central City features an entertainment center called Di Moda, which includes a night club, Italian restaurant, sports bar and disco.

The JW Marriott Hotel Seoul is owned by Central Tourist Development, Ltd., and Michael Nisky is the general manager.

The 34-storey hotel has 35 luxury suites and six levels of executive floors as well as the largest guestrooms in Seoul, which average 538 square-feet (50 square-meters). Guests can take advantage of a wide range of services, including 24-hour room service, tour and travel agent services, coach service from the airport and a business center complete with personal workstations, a private meeting room and translation services.

The JW Marriott Hotel Seoul’s Marquis Thermal Fitness Club and Spa offers one of the most comprehensive fitness centers and spas in the world. It covers 150,000 square-feet (13,935 square-meters) over three floors. The fitness center features a 50-foot rock wall, a scuba-diving pool, a 280-foot jogging track, 22 indoor golf driving ranges, a whirlpool with underwater running machines, a swimming pool and 300 hi-tech exercise machines. The Thermal Spa offers a full range of hydrotheraphy treatments, body wraps, massage therapy, skin care, stress recovery and jet lag treatments. Warm mineral water is pumped into the spa from springs 2000 feet (610 meters) below the hotel.

Guests can choose from six restaurants –JW’s Grill, which serves a blend of cuisine from the East and West; Man Ho, serving Cantonese specialities; Mikado, a traditional Japanese restaurant; Marriott Café, a casual buffet open for breakfast, lunch and dinner; DiModa, a split-level restaurant serving Italian cuisine; and Deli, which has a selection of freshly baked goods, pastries and other gourmet items. In addition, the JW Marriott Hotel Seoul has two bars – the Lobby Lounge and The Exchange Bar.

Marriott International is also represented in South Korea by the Pusan Marriott Hotel and the Renaissance Seoul Hotel.

The JW Marriott Hotel Seoul along with over 1,800 Marriott-affiliated hotels worldwide participates in Marriott Rewards, the guest reward program that allows members to earn their choice of points or airline miles for won spent during each stay.
