Alliance
partners Northwest Airlines and KLM Royal Dutch Airlines were presented
an IGGY Award by the International Gay and Lesbian Travel Association
(IGLTA) for the best advertisement targeting the national and
international gay/lesbian market.
The award was presented at IGLTA’s 17th annual convention held in San
Francisco June 16-18. The IGGY awards were established by the
1,200-member organization to recognize distinctive collateral and print
advertising.
IGLTA is the world’s leading travel trade association, committed to
growing and enhancing its members’ gay and lesbian tourism business
through education, promotion and networking. Northwest was the first
major U.S. airline to join IGLTA and Northwest and KLM were joint
sponsors at the 2000 IGLTA convention.
Northwest and KLM were the first two airlines to receive antitrust
immunity from the U.S. government and have the most integrated alliance
in the airline industry. Together, they operate to more than 400
destination worldwide and offer a wide-range of flights, services and
