Staff of
Airline and HIAS to have Same Uniform for the first time
Dragonair staff are to get a new look, with the introduction of new
uniforms on October 9, 2000. The change comes in a year when the airline
has announced a major fleet expansion, has launched a freighter service
and has moved into a purpose-built headquarters.
“The introduction of the new look comes at an exciting point in
Dragonair’s history, in a year when we have really come of age as a Hong
Kong-based international airline,” said CEO Stanley Hui. “And the
uniforms reflect that new spirit.”
The introduction will also mark the first time that staff of the airline
and Hong Kong International Airport Services (HIAS), a 100%-owned
subsidiary of Dragonair, have worn the same uniform.
“We felt it was important for all our staff to feel part of the same
‘family’. In addition, it strengthens our image with the public, as they
will be able to see clearly the scope of services available from
Dragonair,” said Hui.
The new uniforms represent the first new look for the airline in seven
years. Sophisticated styling combines with accessories from France and
Italy to successfully convey Dragonair’s character as professional and
cosmopolitan in a range created by renowned Hong Kong designer William
Tang.
“I wanted the clothes to reflect the character of Dragonair as an
airline with a sophisticated approach to its business and at the same
time capture the service and friendliness for which it is known,”
explained Tang.
“William was the perfect choice for us,” noted Dragonair’s Corporate
Communication Manager, Laura Crampton, who oversaw the project from its
inception. “Just like Dragonair he is based in Hong Kong and he is a
young and dynamic designer.”
Feedback from the staff was important in the design process, helping to
ensure the uniforms are not only stylish but comfortable.
All air crew staff will begin wearing the new look on October 9, and
within two months staff in all other departments throughout the network
will be wearing the uniforms.
A complete set of photographs featuring the new uniform collection is

Information section.
