The Public
Relations Office of Thai Airways International Public Company Limited
provided the following clarification about THAIs flight TG 687, 24th
November, routed from Ho Chi Minh City to Bangkok, utilizing a Boeing
737-400 aircraft, carrying a total of 155 passengers comprising 146
passengers and 9 cabin crew. The flight departed from Ho Chi Minh City
at 21.10 hours (Local Time) and arrived in Bangkok at 22.30 hours (Local
Time). The pilot landed the aircraft on the runway at Bangkok
International Airport and decrease the taxi speed to ground speed. While
turning off the runway, the nose landing gear collapsed, which caused
the aircraft to stop immediately. The passengers were evacuated through
emergency exit. None of the passengers and crew on board was injured.
THAIs Ground Service staff had arranged for the transfer of the
passengers to connect their flight to Europe.
The aircraft was brought to THAIs Maintenance Center for a complete
aircraft check and repair. THAI will conduct a thorough inspection into
the cause of the incident.
The Boeing 737-400 aircraft, with registration number HS-TDF, joined
THAIs fleet in August 1992. |
