Marriott
International, Inc. (NYSE:MAR) continues its growth in Asia with the
opening of the Nagoya Marriott Associa Hotel in Nagoya, Japan. The
780-room hotel is the first Marriott-branded hotel in Nagoya and the
seventh Japanese hotel in its lodging portfolio.
The Nagoya Marriott Associa Hotel is owned by J.R. Tokai Hotels. The
general manager is Hiroshi Goto.
Set against the historic background described in James Clavell’s epic
novel, Shogun, the Nagoya Marriott Associa Hotel is located directly
above the JR Nagoya railroad station in the heart of Nagoya and only one
hour and 37 minutes by bullet-train from Tokyo and 45 minutes from
Osaka. It is in the JR Central Towers building, the fourth tallest
building in Japan, which also houses offices, upscale restaurants and
retail outlets including a department store. Hotel guests can visit
popular Nagoya sites, including the Tokugawa Art Collection, Nagoya
Castle, Noritake Ceramic Museum and Atsuta Shrine.
The Nagoya Marriott Associa Hotel is the only hotel in Nagoya to offer
voicemail in guestrooms. In addition, the rooms, which average 37 square
meters (400 square feet), have dual phone lines and dataports. All
Concierge Level rooms are equipped with facsimile machines offering
direct send/receive faxing. Concierge guests enjoy a private
check-in/out lounge plus complimentary breakfast and evening cocktails.
For entertainment and dining, the Nagoya Marriott Associa Hotel has six
restaurants – Mikuni Nagoya (French), Lin-Ka (Chinese), La Jolla
(California), Ka-Un (Japanese), Nakotei (Teppan-Yaki) and Pergola
(coffee shop) – two bars, tea service in the lobby lounge and a cake
shop.
For social events, the hotel has extensive banquet and wedding
facilities, including a chapel, Shinto shrine, photo studio, beauty
salon, costume salon and dressing room, as well as 16 banquet rooms. The
largest banquet room holds 1,500 people.
In addition, business travelers can take advantage of the Nagoya
Marriott Associa Hotel’s fully equipped business center featuring
personal computers with Internet access, printers and personal
workstations. Individual meeting rooms with seating for eight to 10
people are also available.
