The Pacific
Asia Travel Association (PATA) is pleased to announce new appointments
and job changes at PATA Operational Headquarters in Bangkok, Thailand,
and at PATA Administrative Headquarters, which will move from San
Francisco to Oakland, California at the end of August.
Mr. Ken Scott has been named Manager-Communications. He will help
day-to-day operations in the PATA Communications Department in Bangkok.
Mr. Scott was most recently Senior Reporter Thailand for Miller Freeman
(Singapore) writing for Travel Trade Gazette Asia, Business Travel News
(Asia-Pacific) and Incentives & Meetings Asia. An experienced travel
journalist with a ten-year track record in Thailand, Mr. Scott has also
been Assistant Editor of PATA Compass magazine, as well as a contributor
to regional publications such as Travel Trade Report, Business Asia (the
Economist Group) and the Bangkok Post. He has a joint honours degree in
politics and geography from the University of Strathclyde in Scotland.

Mr. K. Kent Liu, CPA, has been hired as PATA’s new Controller. He
graduated from Peking University, Beijing, China (PRC) with a degree in
Economics and holds an MBA from the Jesse H. Jones Graduate School of
Administration, Rice University, Houston, Texas. He has worked in public
accounting for KPMG Peat Marwick, Hein + Associates, LLP and Burr,
Pilger & Mayer, Inc. Mr. Liu is responsible for all of PATA’s financial
functions. He is based at PATA Administrative Headquarters.
Ms. Leslie Detter has been appointed Chief Administrative Officer,
responsible for the Administrative Headquarters. She continues to serve
as Director-Sponsor Relations and as the staff officer for PATA’s
carrier members.
Ms. Ratana Poopitakchatkaew has assumed Ms. Detter’s duties as
Director-Board Relations in addition to her current responsibilities as
Director of Administration & Finance for PATA Operational Headquarters
and the Asia Division in Singapore. She remains based in Bangkok.
Also at PATA Operational Headquarters, Ms. Piengkwan Boonjue has been
named Assistant Manager-Administration & Finance and Ms. Waraporn
Sornprom has joined as Executive Secretary.
Mr. Joseph A. McInerney, PATA’s Chief Executive Officer, said, "Our new
