Le Meridien
heads East Coast development
With just more one year to go until Le Meridien Fujairah Beach Resorts
opens its door, the hotel group is confident that the success of Dubai
can be emulated in other emirates.
"Our hotels in the United Arab Emirates - in Abu Dhabi, Dubai and
Jumeira Beach - have recorded a 16 per cent increase in business in the
first quarter and we are finding that the previous summer slump is a
thing of the past," said Russel Sharpe, senior vice president, Middle
East and West Asia, Le Meridien Hotels & Resorts. Le Meridien Mina
Seyahi Beach Resort & Marina has recored 100 per cent occupancy on many
days throughout the summer.
"While demand for Dubai is escalating, with the French, Austrian and
German markets booming, we anticipate a similar response to a new sun,
sea and sand product in Fujairah - particularly coupled with the finest
facilities and service standards of our new resort."
The 219-room hotel, jointly owned by Emirates airline and the Government
of Fujairah, is expected to open in summer 2001 on a beachfront location
on the east coast of the United Arab Emirates.
It will feature two large swimming pools, landscaped gardens, a
dedicated childrens play area, watersports and fitness centre, plus
four speciality restaurants, as well as a Royal Club floor and lounge,
conference facilities and a number of special suites.
Meanwhile, in Dubai, the 154-room tower extension at Le Meridien Jumeira
Beach is undergoing fitting out and will open in September in time for
the winter season. The hotel will also be rebranded as Le Royal Meridien
Beach Resort and Spa at that time to reflect its upgraded facilities and
position. While, the newly branded hotel, as well as Mina Seyahi and Le
Meridien Dubai will open new restaurants. |
