THE JEBEL ALI HOTEL & GOLF RESORT

Travel News Asia Date: 22 August 2000

‘A true resort atmosphere on your doorstep’

With a total refurbishment of rooms scheduled for completion by October - plus an additional accommodation block of 24 deluxe rooms in the Palm Tree Court - the Jebel Ali Hotel & Golf Resort is poised to become one of the Gulf region’s premier resorts, offering extensive recreation facilities and international standards of service and hospitality.

"While we have always been a popular option for overseas holidaymakers - where 60 per cent of our guests are repeat visitors - increasingly residents from the region are choosing to holiday at the Jebel Ali Hotel & Golf Resort," said general manager, Mohamed S Geziry.

"Without travelling long distances, they can walk in to a true resort atmosphere and benefit from our full range of leisure facilities, for both adults and children - and with the new-look rooms, we now offer a range of accommodation to suit every budget."

The hotel, which opened in 1981 at a location just 35 minutes’ drive from Dubai city centre, offers a choice of 377 rooms and suites, including 120 deluxe seaview rooms in the Palm Tree Court which is set in its own lush gardens.

There are eight gourmet restaurants ranging from International fine dining, Italian and Oriental to a Seafood Market and Delicatessen, plus weekly Arabic barbecues complete with music, dancers, henna, sheesha waterpipes, and camel rides.

Guests can also enjoy a choice of sports and leisure options such as tennis, squash, badminton, and billiards, to a gym, sauna, jacuzzi, massage, bicycle rides, horse and camel riding, and even croquet.

There are three swimming pools, a marina offering watersports including water skiing, wind-surfing, sailing, deep-sea fishing as well as banana-boat rides, while another unique feature of the hotel is its Shooting Club - with five clay shooting ranges, a pistol shooting range with 10 lanes plus a Shooting Academy and an American Steakhouse restaurant where guests can review their performance in a relaxing ambience.

If that’s not enough, the hotel is also the only one in the region to offer its very own nine-hole par-36 golf course landscaped to championship standards around a central lake including floodlit practice greens and driving range.

"Nowhere else in the region can you find such an extensive mix of recreation facilities," claimed Mr Geziry. "With 128 acres of landscaped grounds including a large private beachfront, guests can enjoy the unique privilege of choosing a beach lounger under their own palm tree ... or on the beach ... or by one of our three pools ... or relax on their balcony or terrace...

"This is resort living at its best, but guests are just a short bus ride away from the centre of Dubai where they can enjoy all the shopping options the city is offering."

As well as the refurbished standard rooms in the main building, Jebel Ali Hotel & Golf Resort also offers top of the line accommodation standards with its Royal Peacock rooms and the Royal Jasmine rooms in the Palm Tree Court, complete with meet and greet service at the airport, a special welcome drink on arrival, dedicated lounge and butler service, in addition to many other special amenities.

"The far-sighted investment plans of the owners, Dutco Hotels, has ensured that Jebel Ali Hotel & Golf Resort has continually added the type of facilities which the cosmopolitan holidaymaker is seeking," said Mr Geziry.

"The result which we will see by this autumn is a resort for the 21st century."
