Customers can
now quickly and easily access a host of Singapore Airlines (SIA)
information and services using handheld devices anytime, anywhere.
This service is free to users of Palm or Windows CE-based handheld
devices, via the popular AvantGo mobile Internet service.
Said Mr Yap Kim Wah, Senior Vice President Marketing Services: “In the
next few years, it is expected that more mobile phones and handheld
devices will be connected to the Internet than personal computers. We
want to be always ready to service our customers as they embrace new
ways of interacting with the Airline.”
By using a handheld device with a wireless modem or mobile phone,
customers can check up-to-minute status of all SIA flights. In addition,
a KrisFlyer (SIA’s frequent flyer programme) redemption award
“calculator” displays the mileage needed to redeem free travel awards.
Information such as SIA’s flight schedules, contact details of SIA
offices worldwide, KrisFlyer information, news on latest promotions and
a membership services directory can be downloaded to a personal computer
and then transferred to a handheld device using the device’s “sync”
feature.
This new service is another enhancement to SIA Mobile Services, first
launched in July this year, and a further push to heighten customer
service levels utilising new technology. |
