AMERICAN AIRLINES PROCURES FAST-TIME SIMULATION SOFTWARE FROM THE PRESTON GROUP

Travel News Asia Date: 19 July 2000

The Preston Group (TPG), a wholly owned subsidiary of The Boeing Company, has sold a Total Airspace & Airport Modeller - Plus (TAAM) license to American Airlines.

TAAM is a fast-time, gate-to-gate simulation tool used by civil aviation authorities, aviation research establishments, airlines, and airports worldwide to analyze operations, redesign airspace, optimize the use of existing facilities, and plan for the future.

The sophisticated power of TAAM simulation allows American to minimize costs through maximized schedule and operational efficiencies achieved in modeling gate, taxiway, airport and en route operations.

The TAAM license empowers American to simulate in fast time the impacts to its system resulting from additional aircraft, a new or restructured airport, and taxiway or runway reconfigurations. Using TAAM, schedule and future capacity analysis performed allows American to determine the best course of action for projected opportunities and their associated cost savings.

Additionally, American will benefit from the advance of their initiatives resulting from the fact that the Federal Aviation Administration is using TAAM to review and validate airspace design in various locations in the U.S.

The Preston Group provides leading simulation, decision support, and scheduling systems for the global aviation industry. TPG has developed advanced optimization and visualization technology, as well as industry expertise, to meet the needs of its customers through cost-effective software systems and services. Headquartered in Melbourne, Australia, the company also maintains offices in Washington, DC and London.

The Preston Group is a unit of Boeing Commercial Aviation Services, which offers the industry's most complete selection of aviation support products and services.
