Delta Air
Lines has made available for sale two new nonstop flights from the
United States to Japan. Delta will operate one daily nonstop flight from
New York (JFK) to Tokyo (Narita) and one daily nonstop flight from Los
Angeles to Nagoya beginning April 1, 2001.
"The New York-Tokyo service will be Delta’s first Asian flight from New
York and is another link for our global business travelers," said Mark
A. P. Drusch, senior vice president - Network Management. "This
complements our position in New York as the largest transatlantic
carrier."
The New York-Tokyo service will be Delta’s first nonstop service from
New York to Japan. Delta’s Los Angeles to Nagoya service will be the
only daily, nonstop service between those two cities.
JFK is Delta’s largest transatlantic gateway, with service to 22 nonstop
destinations in Europe. Delta also offers connecting flights from JFK to
30 destinations in the United States, Canada and Mexico. Including
service from all New York City area airports, Delta offers more nonstop
flights to Florida than any other carrier; hourly service to Atlanta,
Boston and Washington, D.C.; and hourly service on Delta Shuttle to
Boston and Washington, D.C. In addition, Delta’s expanded BusinessElite
U.S. transcontinental service connects New York’s JFK airport with Los
Angeles, San Francisco and San Diego.
"Delta’s Los Angeles - Nagoya flight will be the only daily nonstop
service to Nagoya from the West Coast," said Drusch. "Serving the third
largest Japanese market will complement our current Los Angeles - Tokyo
daily service."
The new Los Angeles service will provide travelers with connecting
flights to 14 destinations in the United States and Mexico. Delta’s
expanded BusinessElite U.S. transcontinental service also connects Los
Angeles with daily, nonstop flights to New York JFK and Boston.
