The launch of
Mediterranean Travel Fair 2000 witnessed an overwhelming result. The
inaugural event attracted a staggering 2682 participants attending from
25 countries. Held under the patronage on the Egyptian Government and
the Minister of Tourism Dr Mamdouh El Beltagui, preparation for
Mediterranean Travel Fair (MTF) 2001 is well underway.
The support from exhibitors for the 2001 event has been very
encouraging; Libya, Morocco, Bahrain and Cyprus are just a few of the
key exhibitors who have already expressed a keen interest in returning
to the show.
Event partners, Egyptian Travel Agents Association, Egyptian Hotel
Association and Egypt Air are wholeheartedly behind the tourism
activities within the region and they are once again pledging their
support for MTF 2001.
Mediterranean Travel Fair Event Director, Matt Thompson attended a
meeting this month in Cairo with the Egyptian Tourism Authorities and
event partners. It was a platform where all involved were there to meet
the General Managers of the 4 & 5 Star hotels in Cairo to discuss the
importance of the hotels providing complimentary accommodation for key
international buyers attending the event in September 2001. The results
of the last event and an overview of the marketing activities for next
year's show were also discussed in order to maximise efforts for MTF
2001.
"We are delighted to endorse such an event as Mediterranean Travel Fair
and we are pleased to be able to offer complimentary accommodation to
international visitors. Tourism marketing and promotion is key for Egypt
as one of the major tourism attractions in the Mediterranean, and
hosting the international buyers attending the event is a tourism
investment for the hotels of Cairo." comments Mr Ahmed El Nahen,
Chairman of the Egyptian Hotel Association.
The Egyptian Travel Agents Association will once again be fully
responsible for all groundhandling logistics. Mr Elhamy ElZayat,
Chairman comments "We have built up a close working relationship with
Reed and will be actively promoting MTF 2001 both internationally and in
the domestic market. The result of MTF 2000 was tremendous and we will
once again be seeking the endorsement of travel trade associations
worldwide."
Egypt Air has been appointed Official Carrier and will be offering
delegates AD75 airfares. Mr Mohammed Fahim Rayan, Chairman comments "It
is wonderful, once again, we are able to offer our services to all
participants attending MTF 2001."
Mr Adel Abd El Aziz, Chairman of the Egyptian Tourist Authority
wholeheartedly supports Mediterranean Travel Fair. "We are very proud to
take part in the co-ordination of this great event and we are delighted
to be supporting this fair. We firmly believe that it will develop into
one of the leading events for the region."
MTF's upgraded website will be fully operational in November providing
you with up to date information on visiting and exhibiting at
Mediterranean Travel Fair 2001.
