Deutsche BA,
British Airways wholly owned German subsidiary, is to adopt the ‘BA’
prefix on all its flight numbers in a code-sharing agreement which
further strengthens the co-operation between the two carriers.
Starting from September 29, all Deutsche BA flights will carry British
Airways flight codes next to its own ‘DI’ codes on German domestic
routes and two international routes from Germany to Spain. Flights will
be available for Sale from September 22.
Adrian Hunt, Chief Executive of Deutsche BA, said: "This is a very
important development for Deutsche BA’s international presence and it
means that we gain recognition, through the BA flight code, in countries
where we do not currently have a strong reputation".
The code-share will cover 15 German domestic routes between Munich,
Cologne, Berlin, Hamburg and Dusseldorf, as well as Deutsche BA’s daily
flights between Munich and Madrid and Munich and Barcelona.
The new BA code will not only feature on Flight Information Screens at
airports, but also on customer reservation systems, increasing British
Airways’ presence in Germany.
Sandra Kinzler, British Airways’ Manager, Alliances, said: "There are
clear benefits for both carriers through this move. It also re-affirms
our commitment to the important German market and brings British Airways
even closer to its German subsidiary." |
