Marriott and
Renaissance Offshore Resorts has appointed Matthew P. Shackel area
director of sales and marketing, responsible for all of the division’s
resorts in Aruba, Cancun, Puerto Vallarta, Curacao, Jamaica and St.
Thomas.
Mr Shackel comes to the New Jersey sales office from Cairo, Egypt, where
he was responsible for the marketing and sales of the Cairo Marriott,
Sharm El Sheikh Beach Resort, Hurghada Beach Resort, Renaissance
Alexandria and the pre-opening of the JW Marriott Golf and Spa in Mirage
City and Taba Heights Marriott Beach Resort. Matthew began his career
with Marriott in 1982 at the Marriott Essex House in New York City. He
has held director of marketing positions with Marriott in locations as
diverse as Somerset, New Jersey, and Warsaw, Poland.
He has a Bachelor of Science degree, specialising in marketing and
management, from St. John’s University in New York.
“Mr Shackel’s diverse experience with Marriott over the past eighteen
years will benefit all those on the team, and we look forward to
expanding sales efforts under his leadership,” said Gary Grove, regional
vice president of sales and marketing for Marriott International.
