Ramada
International announced that the former Holiday Inn in Nanjing, China,
has been converted to a Ramada Plaza hotel. This is the fourth Ramada
Plaza internationally and Ramada International’s fifth hotel in China.
Plaza is Ramada International’s upper-tier lodging product, offering
more luxurious amenities than the standard Ramada International hotel.
The 277-room Ramada Plaza Hotel Nanjing is jointly owned by Kang Cheng
Ltd. and Shanghai Kang Tai Estate Hotel. The general manager is Ma Xiao
Ping.
“We are thrilled that Ramada International has grown so quickly in
China,” said Reas Kondraschow, senior vice president and managing
director, Ramada International Hotels and Resorts. “We see great
opportunity in the Chinese market as an increasing number of people are
traveling to the mainland on business, and pleasure and domestic travel
within China continues to expand.”
Located in the downtown area of the historic Chinese city of Nanjing,
the hotel is less than a mile from the Xuanwu Lake and close to the
Purple Mountain.
Guests have three dining options in the hotel – the 150-seat Xian Yi Ge
Chinese restaurant, the 100-seat Romano’s Italian restaurant, and the
90-seat Pepper’s coffee shop. There is a lobby lounge called Gallery.
The hotel also offers guests amenities such as a business center, gift
shop, swimming pool, fitness center, beauty salon, sauna and chess room.
In addition, the hotel offers five banquet facilities with seating
capacities ranging from 16 to 350 people.
Ramada Plaza is designed to meet the needs of today’s travelers with
luxury amenities and services. All Ramada Plaza hotels have mini-bars in
every room, large televisions with at least two English language
channels and a movie channel, sunrise check-in as early as 7 a.m.,
air-conditioning and climate control in every room, a 24-hour health
club, concierge services in English, meeting space, at least one
restaurant and bar, and 24-hour room service.
Ramada International, a division of Marriott International, currently
has four additional hotels in China – a Ramada Plaza hotel in Shanghai
with 281 rooms; a 310-room Ramada Plaza hotel in Wuhan, which opened
last October; a Ramada hotel in Guangzhou with 331 rooms; and another in
Hong Kong with 205 rooms. An additional Ramada Plaza hotel located in
Suzhou, China, will open in late 2000.
Ramada International hotels provide value-conscious guests with the
essential elements of a good hotel stay for a fair price. Delivery of
five core values ensures the guest has a restful night’s sleep, an
invigorating bath experience and a Ramada Mornings breakfast in an
attractive hotel that is exceptionally clean and staffed with helpful
and friendly personnel.
Ramada International hotels are located in 14 countries and territories,
including Bahrain, Finland, Qatar, United Arab Emirates, China, India,
Indonesia, Thailand, Myanmar, Guatemala, Puerto Rico, Germany, Hong Kong
