Marriott
International, Inc. (NYSE/MAR) opened its first hotel in Romania - the
Bucharest Marriott Grand Hotel. This 379-room hotel is located in the
center of Bucharest, adjacent to the Parliament Palace.
The hotel is owned by Grand Hotel. The general manager is Rick Zeolla.
A promotional opening rate of US$159 is available from November 9, 2000,
until March 4, 2001.
All of the guest rooms feature three direct dial telephones with voice
mail, STSN high-speed Internet access, AT&T access, in-room safes,
minibar, smoke detectors and sprinkler systems, individual climate
control, satellite TV with HBO, and hair dryer. In addition, the hotel
offers guests an airport shuttle, valet service, car rental/tour desk,
airline reservation desk, 24-hour room service, laundry and a parking
lot for 533 cars.
Guests may also take advantage of the World Class Health Academy, the
hotel’s spa and health club. This 2,000-square-meter (6,652-square-foot)
facility offers European massage, spa treatments, Jacuzzi, steam and dry
saunas, squash courts, state-of-the-art exercise machines, swimming
pool, aerobics, cycling classes, free-weights and a health-food bar.
For business travelers, the hotel has a comprehensive business center.
In addition, the Bucharest Marriott Grand Hotel has nine function and
exhibition rooms totaling 2,000 square meters (6,562 square feet) that
can accommodate groups of up to 1,500 people. The Grand Ballroom is 633
square meters (2,077 square feet) and is divisible into four sections.
The Constant Ballroom is 350 square meters (1,148 square feet). Some of
the function rooms overlook Romania’s Parliament Palace.
For dining, guests may choose from among the hotel’s four restaurants –
Cupola, which offers service all day and features international food;
Cucina, an Italian restaurant; Champions, an American sports bar and
restaurant; and the Vienna Café, an Austrian coffeehouse. In addition,
the hotel also houses the Pavillion Lounge, the hotel’s international
bar.
