Construction of the Middle East’s first indoor ski resort at the Mall of the Emirates, continues to speed ahead at an unprecedented
rate, with the project looking well on track to being ready to produce snow, as scheduled, by June 2005.
The project, which will feature over 6000 tonnes of snow at any given time when completed, will take its place in the history books
as the third largest indoor snow dome in the world, boasting such features as a 400m ski run with a 62m vertical drop, a permanent
quarter pipe for stunts and snowboarding, a range of multi-directional slopes with a number of slope gradients and the world’s
largest indoor snow play area.
With over one third of the slope already built, initial construction of the steelwork for the huge roof and installation of the chairlift
already started, the snow dome is rapidly becoming one of Sheikh Zayed Road’s most recognisable landmarks.
“Although there will be many reasons to visit Mall of the Emirates, the snow dome will be the key attraction, being the first of its
kind in the region," says Peter Walichnowski, Chief Executive Officer, Majid Al Futtaim
Investments. |
