Thai Airways International
is to implement a fuel surcharge on international flights, due to the continual increase
in fuel prices, effective from 15 June 2004 onwards.
Mr. Suthep Suebsantiwongse, THAI’s Executive Vice President Commercial, said
that world fuel prices have been rising continuously and have now reached prices
higher than ever experienced in the past. Due to this, airlines’ fuel related
expenses have increased drastically, resulting in some airlines’ implementation of
a fuel surcharge that is added to the air fare on each flight sector.
The fuel surcharge will be implemented from 15 June on all types of tickets for
THAI international flights except on domestic flights with the following rates:
-
Regional and Middle East routes will be charged a fuel surcharge of 7.50 USD or
around 300 baht per flight coupon
- Intercontinental routes including Australia and New Zealand will be charged a
fuel surcharge of 15 USD or around 600 baht per flight coupon. |
