The Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM) conducted
the Dubai Information Award certificate course for 22 staff members of the
Jumeirah International which operates a number of famous properties in Dubai
and the UK, including the Burj Al Arab, Emirates Towers Hotel, Jumeirah Beach
Hotel, Mina A’ Salam, and Wild Wadi.
The four-day course, conducted by Michelle Sabti, Mohammed Al Ghaffari and
Faisal Khadfour Al Muhairi, Trainers from Training Solutions Team, was held at
the Jumeirah Beach Club.
The Dubai Information Award offers the participants a sound basic knowledge of
Dubai’s geography, culture and heritage, economy, key organisations and their
respective responsibilities.
The certificate programme covers topics related specifically to tourism such as
key regulations, and locations of tourist attractions and major events happening
in the emirate.
Mr. Faisal said: “The participants have been updated on the latest developments
happening in Dubai. This programme forms part of the efforts to create better
awareness about Dubai among the hospitality industry professionals dealing
with the visitors of Dubai.
He added: “The course would help in conveying authentic and crucial
information about every important aspect of Dubai.”
As part of the course, the participants were taken on a tour of the major
developments and landmarks of Dubai in order to brief them, and for them to
understand their significance to Dubai.
The places that the participants visited include the heritage sites in Al Shindagha
– Heritage and Diving Village, Sheikh Saeed Al Maktoum House, Al Ahmadiya
School – Gold Souq, Palm Island and Al Boom Tourist Village. At the Al Boom Tourist Village, they were able to explore the authentic flavours of
Dubai, local food.
The participants were able to gain both theoretical as well as practical
knowledge regarding different aspects of Dubai, including the tourism sector
performance, economic development, infrastructure projects and tourist attractions.
Mr. Faisal said: “Participants gained invaluable knowledge of Dubai, which in
turn will assist them to pass on information about Dubai to tourists in order to
create better awareness of our history, culture and traditions.” |
