Swisstel Hotels & Resorts, managed by Raffles International,
has developed the Swisstel eUniversity, in partnership with Cornell University. Swisstel eUniversity is envisaged
to provide top-notch education via the Internet to over 7,000 Swisstel staff in Asia, Australia, Europe, North
America and South America. Graduates of Swisstel eUniversity will receive eCornell certificates offered by
Cornell University's School of Hotel Administration.
A subsidiary of Cornell University, eCornell is a leading provider of executive and professional development,
delivering online courses in Hospitality Management, Essential Management Skills, Food & Beverage Management
and Human Resource Management. Swisstel Hotels & Resorts Group Director of Human Resources, Lawrence
Lee said, "eCornell's outstanding course content, especially in the area of Hospitality Management, and the
instructor-led online format were the primary reasons we selected them as our principal provider of Hospitality
and Management courses."
Tom Abogabal, eCornell's Director of Corporate Accounts added, "It became apparent
in our discussions that the development of a cost effective and viable learning center will have to involve
e-learning given the hectic schedules of the hospitality executives. eCornell is accessible to managers across the
globe and easily administered and managed via the web without additional infrastructure or IT delivery costs."
Meinhard Huck, Managing Director of Swisstel Hotels & Resorts said, "Swisstel eUniversity fulfills our need to
provide a highly effective and innovative training platform for our managers who form the cornerstone of our
organization. This will ensure Swisstel's competitive edge in delivering quality service and customized care."
John Neuman, eCornell's CEO added, "eCornell is delighted to have Swisstel Hotels & Resorts as a business
partner. We are pleased that the hotel group selected eCornell to deliver Ivy League instruction to their
employees worldwide."
