Virgin Blue launches Perth - Broome service

Virgin Blue today launches a brand new service between Perth and Broome, Australia.

Flights from Perth depart at 4:25pm, arriving into Broome at 6:50pm before turning around and heading back to the state’s capital for a 9.55pm arrival.

The flights will operate on a Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday with convenient connections available between Broome - Brisbane, Gold Coast, Hobart, Launceston, Melbourne and Sydney via Perth to compliment connections already available on Saturdays via Virgin Blue’s direct Adelaide-Broome flight.

Virgin Blue Chief Executive Brett Godfrey said, “Broome was chosen as Virgin Blue’s very first West Australian regional port as it is a key tourism region which is going from strength to strength. We are excited to be able to expand our network where it’s most needed as well as providing more choice and convenience for those who have supported Virgin Blue with such enthusiasm over the past few years.”

He added, “We’ll be keeping a close eye on our loads and, as with all new routes, if we see strong support we’ll certainly consider adding more services into the region.”

Everyday low fares start from A$199 one-way on the net, with a Fully Flexible fare of A$439 one way.

Broome’s local business and airport community have applauded Virgin Blue’s decision to launch the direct Perth flights.

Ron Johnston from the Broome Chamber of Commerce said, “We are delighted to welcome this new service which certainly indicates Virgin Blue’s confidence in our destination. We are looking forward to working together to develop this important sector for both the tourism and business markets.”

Kim Maisey, Chief Executive Officer Broome International Airport, said, “Since Virgin Blue began services to Broome in April last year we’ve been keen to increase services from other destinations and we warmly welcome the introduction of this direct flight and extra capacity on this key route.”
