New services to Switzerland, Greece, Croatia and Lithuania are the key changes to
British Airways’ route network, announced today.
The new routes, which start from October 31, 2004, unless specified, are:
· Three new services to Switzerland with flights from London Heathrow to Basle, which will operate three times per
day, and London Gatwick to Zurich which will operate twice per day. British Airways CitiExpress will operate flights
from Birmingham to Geneva on Saturdays during the ski season between December 2004 and April 2005.
· From late March 2005 there will be three new services from London Gatwick. There will be four flights per week to
Salonika in Greece, three flights per week to Split in Croatia and five flights per week to Vilnius, the capital of
Lithuania.
· Flights between London Gatwick and Paris Charles de Gaulle will be suspended.
· There will also be increased frequencies on longhaul services from Heathrow this winter. Weekly flights to Cape
Town will go up from 10 to 12, Dubai flights will rise from 17 to 19 per week and Miami will go up from 14 to 16 per
week. Flights to Nassau in the Bahamas increase from five to six per week and services to the Turks and Caicos
Islands double to two per week.
The changes for the winter 2004 season represent a two per cent increase in capacity, measured in available seat
kilometres, compared to the winter 2003 season. |
