Virgin Blue
has appointed Heather Jeffery to the newly created role of General Manager, Public
Affairs.
Heather brings with her two decades of extensive airline experience from within the Australian and New Zealand aviation markets
as well as a strong background in corporate and marketing communications with companies including ICI, Australian Airlines,
and most recently as Group Public Affairs Manager (Australia) for Ansett and Air New Zealand.
She has a Bachelor of Business (Communication) and has acted as a private consultant to other organisations in the airlines,
tourism and financial services sectors.
As General Manager, Public Affairs, Heather joins the expanded Virgin Blue senior management team and will be working closely
with and reporting directly to Virgin Blue Chief Executive Brett Godfrey. She will be responsible for masterminding the low fare
airline’s strategic communications direction as well as both external and internal communications.
Brett Godfrey said, “We have always respected her work in the industry, even when she was with the
opposition, and we are confident that she will be a tremendous addition to our senior management team. Her rapport with
people, combined with her proven management skills and brand appreciation will stand her in good stead to provide strategic
direction within Virgin Blue’s Public Affairs portfolio.”
Heather will be starting full time early in the New Year.
