SRS-WORLDHOTELS
officially opened its new global sales office in Shanghai today.
The move comes as part of an aggressive plan for China by
SRS-WORLDHOTELS which has already seen the company announce three new members in mainland China in the past two months: the prestigious
Garden
Hotel Guangzhou, Landmark Hotel Shenzhen and Xiamen International Seaside
Hotel.
“The new sales office will give SRS-WORLDHOTELS a pre-eminent position
ahead of our competitors, and will enable our 450 members worldwide to benefit
from the huge growth in outbound travel from mainland China,” said Roland
Jegge, Vice President Asia/Pacific of SRS-WORLDHOTELS.
The World Tourism Organisation estimates that outbound visitors from mainland
travel will increase from 12 million a year to 50 million by 2010.
“At the same time, our global network of sales offices will assist our member
hotels in China to capture a large share of the incoming leisure and business
travel to China, which is also increasing at a tremendous rate,” said
Jegge.
SRS-WORLDHOTELS currently represents 17 member hotels in China.
Heading the new office in Shanghai as Director of Development and Sales is
David Wang who has had sales and marketing experience with several hotels in
China including The Peace Hotel and the Sofitel JJ Oriental Tower, and who was
previously marketing director in Shanghai for Gulliver’s Travel Associates. |
