Responding to requests from industry leaders, The Center for Hospitality
Research at Cornell University’s School of Hotel Administration has created an
online information exchange to help practitioners solve problems and discover
new practices. This discussion board provides an open yet confidential forum in
which industry professionals can engage both their peers and Cornell Hotel
School faculty on operating issues ranging across the hospitality industry.
“This unique tool will enable managers to exchange ideas, share common
problems, and develop solutions to key business questions in a confidential
manner," said Jo-Anne Kruse, Senior Vice President, Human Resources, in Cendant Corporation's Travel Distribution Services division. “It’s a great way for
professionals facing new challenges to reach out to others for perspective,
insight and fresh ideas.”
Cornell faculty members are active participants in the exchange, responding
directly to questions and concerns.
“Our faculty are pleased to share their experiences and expertise in this forum,”
said Gary Thompson, Executive Director of the Center for Hospitality Research
and a professor in the Hotel School. “We are using this vehicle to help others,
but also to better understand the kinds of issues that professionals find most
demanding.”
The discussion board includes sections on the following topics: accounting;
architecture, planning and design; communication management; facilities management; finance; food and beverage management; hospitality operations;
human resource management; information systems management; law; marketing; organization behavior; operations management; real estate
management; strategic management; and tourism. |
