Virgin Atlantic is looking to showcase the best in British film making talent
by launching a search for the best independent films by film students. The
successful films will be credited and seen by up to 4 million viewers on
Virgin Atlantic's award winning inflight entertainment system. The overall
winning student director will also receive a pair of Virgin Atlantic tickets to
any destination on the airline's network.
Kate Dawkins, Assistant Producer Researcher for Virgin Atlantic,
commented:
"We are very proud of our inflight entertainment and are keen to encourage
creativity and new British talent. This is a fantastic opportunity for any
budding film students to show their work alongside blockbuster movies and award winning British and US comedies.
"Following the success of this competition, we are hoping to open this up
to film schools worldwide, so that we can showcase film making talent on
an international scale!"
The brief for the film is to recapture the romance, excitement, genius and
magic of air travel. The best films will be shown on V.Travel onboard Virgin
Atlantic aircraft which features destination guides, inflight health tips and
travel advice. The film therefore has to be entertaining for the audience who
will be passengers on long haul journeys travelling for business or pleasure. The film can take any form - factual documentary, drama or comedy and
should be no longer than four minutes. Films will be judged on relevance to
the audience, originality and technical expertise. Films must be sent in
before June 30th 2004 to Kate Dawkins, Onboard Media, Virgin Atlantic 02,
The Office, Manor Royal, Crawley, West Sussex, RH10 9NU. Do
note
that by sending in a film, the director will be consenting for Virgin Atlantic
Airways Ltd to show it on its aircraft free of charge in perpetuity. |
