Air has reported strong operating results for the month of November, a month characterized by increased demand due to the arrival of Beaujolais Nouveau, a seasonal wine.
In response to the KTX (Korea Express Train), flight reductions on Korean domestic routes were continued in November in order to match supply and demand of passenger traffic. RPKs were reduced by 20.1% and ASKs decreased by 19.2% over the same period last year.
International passenger traffic held strong, growing 4.6% YOY thanks to the 'Korean Wave' (popularity of Korea overseas), and the addition of new destinations such as Shanghai, China.
Korean Air Cargo's FTKs rose by 10.3% on a year-on-year basis in spite of an aircraft return of one MD-11F.
In accommodating Beaujolais Nouveau, four additional cargo flights were added to serve the surging demand on European routes and recorded
a 31% jump in FTK.
Korean Air Cargo carried more than 1,400 tons of the French wine this year, or 86% up from those of the same period last year.
Cargo on the China routes increased 27.7% due to strong demand from textiles.
