Dragonair enhances Tea experience

Travel News Asia 29 November 2004

The best in premium, full-flavoured Chinese teas will soon be served to all Dragonair passengers. The airline has selected oolong and jasmine teas from the famed Fook Ming Tong tea company of Hong Kong to add to its menus.

Passengers on board Dragonair flights to and from Beijing and Shanghai will be able to enjoy the teas from December 1, and passengers on other routes from early next year.

“We are very pleased to be bringing these premium teas to our passengers as part of enhancing the overall travel experience with Dragonair,” said Ronnie Choi, Director Customer Services.

“We chose the teas of Fook Ming Tong because it takes the tea blending and selection process very seriously, and has built a reputation as a purveyor of high-quality teas.”

The types of tea to be served on board were selected for their popularity.

“In general, passengers from different places have different tastes,” explained Mr. Choi. “Both oolong and jasmine teas are popular with Hong Kong people, but there is preference for the deeper-flavoured oolong among our Mainland and Taiwanese passengers. The light and fragrant jasmine is favoured by our Japanese passengers and other nationalities.”

A Fook Ming Tong tea gift set, called “Dancing Butterflies”, will be available for passengers to buy as part of Dragonair’s duty free inflight sales from January 1 2005. The set comprises four individually decorated tins of Chinese teas.
