Abacus first for Cathay Pacific with new Interline Electronic Ticketing

Travel News Asia 29 October 2004

Abacus International has implemented interline electronic ticketing facilities for Cathay Pacific Airways for their partnership with American Airlines and British Airways.

The agreement will enable Abacus-connected travel agents in 22 markets throughout Asia-Pacific to electronically ticket for the three airlines on a single e-ticket, rather than issuing paper tickets as was the case previously.

"We're constantly looking at new ways to make booking travel easier and more convenient for our customers," said Mr Simon Ng, Manager Distribution Systems of Cathay Pacific Airways. "E-tickets has been enormously popular with travellers, and this new service will bring further benefits to business and leisure travellers who travel on more than one airline," Mr Ng said.

"E-ticketing provides a solid travel solution for passengers and has a very successful uptake by airlines, Travel Agents and travellers. Interline e-ticketing takes this service one step further by providing a travel solution for customers who need to use more than one airline on their trip. For example, passengers who travel around the world can now easily do so without carrying multiple paper tickets" said Mr Rogelio Sarreal, Vice President, Associate Sales, Abacus International.
