Shangri-La Hotels and
Resorts is to offer a lifestyle and culinary extravaganza this spring and summer
- 'A Feast For The Senses'. This will be the first time ever that the group will organise a series of events on such a grand scale celebrating fine
food and wine, the passion of cooking, business analysis and cutting edge
fashion.
The
luxury hotel group aims to make 'A Feast For The Senses' a prestigious annual festival. This
year, the event will take place in Hong Kong from 16 - 21 May, followed by Taipei
on 6 - 11 June and Singapore from 4 - 9 July.
During this three-week festival, six of Shangri-La's chefs selected from renowned
western and Chinese restaurants of the group's hotels in Hong Kong, Shanghai
and Taipei, and three guest chefs from the associated Nadaman Japanese restaurant in Tokyo, will offer daily signature menus, paired with selections of
Moet & Chandon Champagne, in a variety of designated Shangri-La restaurants.
Served Monday through Thursday, each participating Shangri-La hotel will feature
special luncheons, consisting of four courses including a Japanese
appetiser, Chinese soup, French main course and Australian-fusion dessert, each prepared
by a different chef. The luncheons will also present distinguished speakers from
the festival's partners, namely the Financial Times, Moet & Chandon and
Dior.
The Champagne tasting in each destination will be a rare opportunity to learn and
refine the subtle art of appreciating truly great Champagne, hosted by Vincent
Chaperon, winemaker, and James Guillepain, international commercial relations
director of Moet & Chandon, based in Epernay, France.
The cooking classes on offer will allow participants in each city to learn from some
of today's most inspired chefs from China, France, Japan, Italy and Australia. Each
chef will share two of his favourite national dishes, imparting along the way his
own cooking techniques and personal culinary style.
As a grand finale to Shangri-La's tri-city celebration of excellence in Asia, each
hotel will host a gala dinner featuring a five-course menu, reflecting each master
chef’s own national cuisine; free flowing Moet & Chandon Champagne; a fashion
show by Dior and a charity auction.
Commenting on this new festival, Jean Michel Offe, Shangri-La's group director of
food & beverage, said: "This is an exciting opportunity for us to showcase Asian
lifestyle and to reinforce our commitment to promoting the diverse and innovative
cuisine in this region as well as Shangri-La's legendary hospitality." |
