Hawaiian Airlines announced today introductory air fares from just AUD
$1074 for roundtrip flights between Sydney and Honolulu, after receiving
approval from Australian and US authorities to begin accepting flight reservations for its new nonstop services across the Pacific.
Subject to final approval by the Australian Government and issuance of an
international airline license, Hawaiian's first nonstop flight will depart
Sydney on Tuesday evening, May 18, then operate four times weekly.
"To launch our new services between Australia and Hawaii, we're offering
great prices, together with the most convenient departure and arrival times,
our award-winning in-flight service and the best on-time performance in the
US airline industry," said Mark Dunkerley, Hawaiian's president and chief
operating officer.
"Hawaii is a great family holiday destination and an excellent location for a
conference, meeting or business incentive trip - and with Australia's dollar
continuing to rise, Hawaii is also becoming more and more affordable," said
Mr Dunkerley.
In addition to the $1074 fares - plus taxes - Hawaii's biggest and
longest-serving airline is offering introductory return fares from just AUD
$1169 - plus taxes - for flights from Sydney to the Hawaiian islands of Kauai,
Maui, Molokai, Lanai and Hawaii's Big Island, with same day connection from Honolulu.
The airline
is also offering common-rated introductory fares from just $1503
- plus taxes - to fly from Sydney to any of Hawaiian's eight US mainland
destinations - Seattle, Portland, Sacramento, San Francisco, Los Angeles,
San Diego, Phoenix and Las Vegas.
The introductory air fares are good for any bookings made by 31 March,
2004, as long as travel is completed by 31 December, 2004. Seats are limited
at these prices and some conditions apply.
Hawaiian Airlines will fly four times weekly between Australia and Hawaii,
departing Sydney on Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday at 9:30 p.m., and arriving in Honolulu the same day at 10:55 a.m.
The return flight will depart Honolulu on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday,
and Saturday at 1:30 p.m. and arrive in Sydney the following day at 7:30
p.m., as Sydney is 21 hours ahead of Hawaii.
Hawaiian will fly the new Sydney route with Boeing 767-300ER wide-body
