The Hong Kong Tourism Board
(HKTB) warmly welcomed today's
announcement by the Government that Mr Chow Chung-kong has been appointed a Member of the Board for a three-year term effective from 1
March 2004. Mr Chow is Chief Executive Officer of the Mass Transit Railway
Corporation Ltd.
HKTB Chairman, The Hon Mrs Selina Chow, GBS, OBE, JP said that Mr
Chow's wide range of business experience both locally and internationally
would be a valuable asset to the Board. "Hong Kong's public transport operators are very important partners of ours in planning and implementing
various marketing activities, especially now that more and more travellers
are coming to Hong Kong as individuals," she noted.
"At the same time, CK's many years of experience leading international
corporations in the United States, Britain and Australia will enable him to
contribute some valuable insights to our strategies for promoting Hong Kong as a business and leisure destination in these key overseas source
markets."
Mr Chow's appointment to the HKTB Board fills a vacancy created by the
resignation of Mr Adolf Hsu upon his retirement as Managing Director of New World First Bus Services in December 2003.
The Hong Kong SAR Government appoints the 20 HKTB Members, who
represent a broad spectrum of industries. The Board is headed by its Chairman, The Hon Mrs Selina Chow, GBS, OBE, JP and Vice-Chairman, the
Secretary for Economic Development and Labour or the Commissioner for Tourism. |
