Qatar Airways and Middle East Airlines (MEA) have signed an historic
codeshare agreement that will enable MEA passengers to fly with Qatar Airways between Beirut-Doha-Beirut from March 28.
Qatar Airways' Chief Executive Officer and MEA's Chairman Director
General Mr Mohamad El Hout signed the codeshare agreement in a special signing ceremony today in Doha, Qatar.
"This codeshare marks an historic milestone for Qatar Airways and Middle
East Airlines, as well as Middle East aviation generally," said Mr Al Baker.
"MEA is the first Middle-East based airline that we have signed a codeshare
agreement with, as we continue to pursue strategic alliances with other business partners.
"MEA has been one of the Middle East's longest serving airlines, and under
Mr El Hout, MEA is being transformed into a modern international airline that
is delivering a very high quality product.
"The codeshare will allow Qatar Airways to carry MEA passengers on its
flights between Beirut-Doha-Beirut.
"It will also allow frequent flyer members of Qatar Airways' Privilege Club
and MEA's Cedar Miles to earn and burn their miles on the entire network of
both airlines." added Mr Al Baker.
Qatar Airways
currently has codeshare agreements with Malaysian Airlines, Philippines Airlines,
Alitalia, Biman and Garuda Indonesia and the airline also recently announced an
extended codeshare agreement with Lufthansa. |
