China Southern Airlines
is celebrating this week’s 10th Anniversary of its China Southern West Australian Flying
College. “The college specializes in training airline pilots for China Southern Airlines
taking raw recruits with no flying experience through their PPL and CPL with instrument rating. Cadet pilots graduate from the China Southern West
Australian Flying College as fully trained co-pilots in high performance jet
aircraft,” said Mr. Qian Wei, Principal and Managing Director, China Southern West Australian Flying College.
More than 780 qualified pilots
have graduated from the college and either has or is currently flying for
China Southern Airlines.
Located at Jandakot Airport, a 20 minutes drive from Perth, the China
Southern West Australian Flying College also owns and operates the Merredin Aerodrome, 250 kilometers east of Perth in the heart of the wheat
belt area of the country.
Mr. Qian added that, “having bases in both Merredin and
Jandakot, provides the opportunity for the safest initial flying environment, while still
allowing cadets to fly into an international airport. The Jandakot facility has
been designed for every aspect of flight training, and includes an engineering department, maintenance hangars, a computer based training
facility and access to all types of airspace and instrument approach systems. Merredin was chosen because of its flat, open country and a low
rural population where cadets can learn the fundamentals of navigation.”
The China Southern West Australian Flying College employs around 100
people, in fields ranging from flight and ground instructors, to engineers,
administrative personnel and operations staff and owns a modern fleet of more than 50 specialized aircraft, including G115 Glob
single engine German technology trainers, US-based twin-engine Piper Seneca V’s and high performance Cessna Citation jets. |
