Malaysia Airlines today expanded operations to China and further boosted
access to the East Malaysian state of Sabah with the launch of a twice-weekly scheduled service between Kota Kinabalu and Shanghai.
Effective today, Malaysia Airlines' flight MH394 departs Kota Kinabalu every
Wednesday and Friday at 1030 hours to reach Shanghai at 1445 hours. The return flight MH 395 leaves Shanghai at 1700 hours local time and arrives
Kota Kinabalu at 2120 hours the same day.
A two class configured Boeing 737-400 aircraft with 16 Business and 128
Economy Class seats will be used on this service.
Today's move
further establishes Kota Kinabalu as an increasingly active hub on the South East Asia aviation map, adding to its existing 15
services between the city and other international destinations.
Together with this newly launched service, Malaysia Airlines now offers a
weekly capacity of 30264 seats between Malaysia and China in both directions.
Speaking at the inaugural flight send-off ceremony
in Kota Kinabalu, Mr Germal Singh, the airline's Regional Manager for Malaysia/Singapore,
said, "Today's flight to Shanghai is a welcome extension to our long term
relationship with China. Malaysia Airlines has aggressively pursued its strategy of expanding services to areas of strong growth potential. China is
one such market. We hope that the number of tourist arrivals and business
entrepreneurs will rapidly increase in both directions." |
