Hong Kong is bringing its style, products and business opportunities to the Middle East, in a five-day programme, from 12 to 16
December 2004.
The highlight will be the 'Hong Kong in Style' trade exhibition,
to be held at the Dubai International Exhibition Centre.
Other events include a 'Hong Kong Extravaganza' gala dinner, which brings the flavour of Hong Kong to the Middle East with a
Hong Kong-themed evening of fashion, food and design.
A business seminar, 'How Hong Kong can help you succeed in China' focuses on opportunities for Middle East companies in
Asia, including Hong Kong's role as an entry point for China.
Addressing a press conference today, Jeff Ambjorn, Middle East Director of the Hong Kong
Trade Development Council, said: "Hong Kong offers a unique business environment. It offers the best of Chinese opportunities,
coupled with the best of international business practices. If you are looking for an entry point in China, Hong Kong is an
excellent place to start."
"Trade between Hong Kong and the Middle East is growing rapidly, and this year we've had particularly strong interest from
Hong Kong companies on expanding into the Middle East. We're confident these events will boost bilateral trade between our
regions," he added.
'Hong Kong in Style' is the largest-ever exhibition of Hong Kong
products in the UAE, with thousands of innovative, award-winning designs on offer. Many of the 200-plus companies are market leaders in the United
States and Europe, and more than two-thirds are first-time exhibitors in the Middle East.
"Previously, buyers had to travel to Hong Kong to see such a wide selection of quality products. With 'Hong Kong in Style' we
are bringing thousands of products direct to Middle East buyers," Ambjorn said.
Visitors to the fair can also get the latest information and advice on doing business in Asia at the on-site Hong Kong Service
Pavilion.
