Starting
31 October, SAS Scandinavian Airlines is to redifine its class structure
to meet the changing demands of travelers on European routes.
Business and Economy Class are mature concepts in the airline industry and their structure of rules and
restrictions have been challenged by the simple rules and low prices of the low cost airlines.
Market studies have
confirmed that there is a demand for airlines offering more than just a low
price. The airlines' new offer is based on extensive market research of approximately
4000 travelers from eight countries and tailored to three identified and distinct customer segments:
Economy - A basic product for
price sensitive customers whose main concern is the price will be offered
the airlines' basic product, with focus on self-service. This is a low price offer competing with the lowest fares on the market.
Meals and refreshments will be available for purchase on board.
Economy Flex -
A new offer, Economy Flex, is tailored to customers whose main concern is efficient travel. Economy Flex gives greater flexibility including free
rebooking and refunds, priority check-in, fast lane security in Copenhagen and Stockholm, advance seat
reservation, dedicated seating and complimentary meal and beverages.
Business -
In addition to all the benefits of Economy Flex, passengers will be seated comfortably with
the center seat empty, there will be extra legroom, a meal, and the convenience of lounge access.
"This recognizes that business travelers have different preferences. The new product gives us the opportunity to
cater for all needs, especially the demands for efficiency; in time, hassle and value for money, which is increasingly
in focus among today's business traveler" says Per Møller Jensen, Vice President Europe, Middle East & Africa. |
