Hilton International appoints Senior Staff to Middle East Asia Pacific Development Team

Travel News Asia 23 February 2004

Hilton International's President for Middle East and Asia Pacific (MEAP), Koos Klein today announced changes to the companies area development team, led by the appointment of Mr Andrew Clough as Vice President of Development and Project Finance.

“We have 68 properties now operating in the MEAP area and we have commitments to expand our portfolio by adding an additional 32 Hilton branded properties over the next three years. The majority of these are through management contracts. Our aim is to have a Hilton hotel in every location where our guests want to be and I am confident that the new development team will significantly add to our expansion strategy.

Andrew Clough was most recently Regional Director of Business Development for Australasia. He joined Hilton in January 1997 where his current responsibility is to oversee the rooftop-to-basement rebuild of the Hilton Sydney and it’s adjoining office space and car park. Andrew comes to the position with a strong background in finance. He will maintain his responsibility for the Hilton Sydney and will move to Singapore later this year.

In addition to Andrew, Paul Macpherson has been promoted to Vice President, Development Asia & Middle East, while Guy Phillips has been promoted to Director of Development for the Middle East. Guy will take on responsibility for heading up individual projects.

Tane Picken has joined the Hilton MEAP team as Development Analyst for the Area. Tane was previously a trainee in Hilton Kuwait under the Hilton International’ “Elevator” program, a program that selects the brightest graduates and hotel careerists from around the world. Tane will move to Singapore effective March 8.
