Virgin Atlantic is
to offer its Upper Class passengers freshly baked pies from one of London's finest pie
companies, Square Pie. The lamb and rosemary Square Pie will be exclusively available for Upper Class
passengers on all routes departing the UK from 4 February.
Cameron Woodward, Inflight Catering and Development Manager commented:
"Virgin Atlantic is delighted to be the only airline to offer its passengers freshly
baked Square Pies. Square Pie offers high quality and product innovation, which
fits into our brand perfectly. We are sure that these pies will be very popular with
our Upper Class passengers."
Martin Dewey, Owner and Founder of Square Pie, commented:
"We are very excited about supplying Virgin Atlantic Upper Class passengers
with Square pies onboard. For the first time pie lovers will have their own
personal Square Pie freshly baked to order in the sky."
Square Pies will feature on the 'Freedom menu', Virgin Atlantic's Upper Class
meal service that allows passengers to eat what they want when they want it.
Passengers can order any item from the extensive menu at any time. If a
passenger wants chocolate cake for a starter and Square Pie for pudding - so be
it! Each item is individually prepared by the cabin crew.
The lamb and rosemary pie is hand made by Square Pie using only the finest
freshest ingredients, free range meat and avoids artificial flavourings. Square Pie
is at the forefront of the new wave of British food companies doing simple but
high quality traditional foods with a modern brand and innovative recipes.
Square Pie recently launched a classic pie and mash shop in Selfridges Food
Hall, Oxford St, featuring a daily choice of 12 types of pie served with freshly
made mash peas and gravy. Square Pie also famously created the 'Humble Pie',
a kangaroo and merlot pie, only for Australians following their Rugby World Cup
defeat. |
