Amadeus launches fare guarantee for Asia Pacific agents

Travel News Asia 2 February 2004

Amadeus, one of Asia Pacific's largest and fastest growing travel reservations systems, today announced the Asia Pacific launch of a written guarantee for all public fares quoted in the Amadeus Central System, at the time of ticketing, on condition that the agent prices a Passenger Name Record (PNR) in accordance with rules specified in the Fares Guarantee Text. With this initiative, agents can concentrate on increasing sales and delivering superior service.

Mr. Tony Carter, Director of Regional Operations, Amadeus Asia Pacific, said, "We have long been confident in the pricing and accuracy of our fares. With this guarantee we are putting that confidence to the test, while assisting travel agents to offer their customers improved service, and building consumer confidence in the industry."

Mr. David Brett, President of Amadeus Asia Pacific, added, "This is a key component of the new Amadeus offering expected to raise standards of accountability industry wide, and comes at a time when the need for transparency is critical to an industry in transition. It reflects Amadeus' ongoing commitment to provide advanced fares and pricing coupled with industry leading technology solutions."

This is the second in a series of measures taken to deliver greater accuracy, flexibility, and functionality, as well as peace of mind to travel agents. In September 2003, Amadeus announced the completion of its alignment to a single format for loading all public and negotiated fares and fare-related data. The change to the encoded data structure makes available the most accurate and up-to-date fares and rules data to travel agencies.
