Finnair's summer timetable comes into effect on March 28, as clocks move
forward to summer time across Europe. An important feature for Finnair during the coming summer season will be the introduction to the fleet at the
beginning of June of a sixth wide-bodied MD11 aircraft, adding significant
capacity to our already very regular and popular flights to South-East Asia.
The additional MD11 aircraft will make it possible
for the airline to increase frequencies on flights to China. As of the beginning of April, Finnair will fly daily to Beijing
and, as of the start of June, five times a week to Shanghai. With the three
weekly flights operated to Hong Kong, this means that Finnair will be flying
to China 15 times a week.
Flights to Asia will have doubled compared with their frequency two years
ago. Finnair flies daily to Bangkok, from which it continues four times a
week to Singapore and three times a week to Hong Kong. Flights are operated to Tokyo twice a week and, during the summer until the end of
September, flights to Osaka will be increased from three to five times a
week.
European connections improved
In Europe, Finnair reopens its non-stop service to Dublin, starting with four
flights a week and increasing to six at midsummer. An evening departure to
Zurich will be added on April 8, with excellent connections to domestic flights in Finland. With the joining of the oneworld alliance by Swiss, Zurich
will become a significant hub for connecting flights operated by Finnair's
oneworld partners, not least Nice and Geneva. An evening flight with Airbus A319 aircraft to Hamburg is to be added to
the airline's German destination network on May 3, with connections to Finnair
flights serving Japan and China. In the Baltics, Finnair is adding a third daily
flight to the Latvian capital, Riga on May 3.
Other highlights include the increase from 12 to 13 weekly flights to
Manchester in June; an extra frequency to Milan at the beginning of September; and additional flights to Prague, Budapest and Rome during
the summer. As in previous summers, flights will operate to Murmansk, Bergen, Toronto and
Lakselv.
Warm meal service returned
In response to customer demand, Finnair
has said it is reintroducing warms meals on European scheduled flights. Warm meals will be served on all flights of
more than two hours. Hot breakfasts will also be provided for Business Class passengers on flights to Oslo, Copenhagen, Gothenberg and
Moscow, while breakfast in Economy will be more varied than before. These
improvements come into effect on May 5. |
