Deloitte
has launched its Spanish edition of the HotelBenchmark Survey. Spain is the 3rd country survey
to be launched this year and joins another 10 country surveys already in production.
This is the first time that such comprehensive monthly rate and occupancy performance data on the Spanish hotel market has
ever been available. The new survey tracks 22 markets across Spain and analyses the performance of both city centre and
resort locations. Spain is the 5th European country to be tracked by Deloitte. The other European country surveys are Belgium
& Netherlands, Germany, Italy and the UK. Each of these country surveys provides further in-depth analysis of hotel
performance trends by segmenting the data by location, size of hotel and average rate band.
Commenting on the launch, Julia Felton, Executive Director of HotelBenchmark at Deloitte said: "We are delighted to launch our
first ever monthly report on hotel performance trends in Spain. It's a challenging time for Spanish hoteliers; increased
competition from new destinations, a decline in the average length of stay and an increasing number of visitors travelling
independently opting to stay in residential accommodation are putting pressure on hotel performance. We are excited to be able
to provide operators with greater transparency and a better understanding of the market going forward."
