Shangri-La Hotels and
Resorts recently appointed Ms. Sarah Chen as Vice President Sales and Marketing
Projects.
Reporting to Martin F. Waechter, Shangri-La's Chief Marketing Officer,
Ms. Chen will be based in the group's corporate office in Hong Kong from August 2004 and
be responsible for the sales and marketing functions of new hotel projects. Martin
F. Waechter said: "We are delighted that Sarah decided to rejoin Shangri-La to
strengthen the group's marketing team. This new role was created to align the
organisation with our exciting hotel development. Sarah will be working closely
with the corporate divisions to assist the hotels' General Managers and the
marketing teams in preparation for the openings."
Ms. Chen has nearly 20 years experience in the travel and hotel
industry, having worked with Shangri-La's Far Eastern Plaza Hotel in Taipei as Director of Catering
Sales, Director of Sales and Director of Marketing during 1993 to 2000, and was
most recently the Director of Marketing at Grand Hyatt Taipei, before she decided
to rejoin Shangri-La after a three years absence.
A native of Taiwan, Ms. Chen is a graduate in hospitality management of Chinese
Culture University in Taipei, and has obtained certificate in hotel business
administration from Washington State University USA. |
