Cyprus Airways improves Visa system in Dubai

Travel News Asia 21 December 2004

Cyprus Airways, the Cypriot flag carrier, has joined forces with the Cyprus Trade Centre (CTC) in Dubai to provide passengers with tourist or transit visas within four working days for a nominal fee of Dhs.165 per application.

Passengers, travelling or transiting through the Mediterranean island, who require visas, can now drop their applications along with their passports at the CTC office, in Al Ghurair City, Deira, where a dedicated collection counter has been opened.

The CTC will forward the applications to the Cypriot Embassy in Qatar and send the visa-stamped passports, by courier, to the applicant’s stated address within four working days.

“Passengers wanting to holiday in Cyprus, or transit through Larnaca airport, now have the option of visiting the British Embassy or the Cyprus Trade Centre to obtain their visas,” said C K Hussain, Sales Manager Gulf, Cyprus Airways.

“The CTC, in co-operation with Cyprus Airways, approached the Qatar-based Cypriot Ambassador to the region, HE George Kasoulides, who immediately helped us devise this convenient solution.”

The Cyprus Tourism Organisation (CTO) will soon open a regional Tourist Office in Dubai to step up its marketing activities and help provide more information about the island’s attractions to potential visitors.

Cyprus Airways has two dedicated weekly flights from Dubai to Larnaca. The airline operates an Airbus A319 non-stop direct flight every Thursday at 1340 hrs in a two-class configuration with 12 business class and 114 economy class seats and reaches Larnaca by 1620 hrs.

The airline also operates an Airbus A320 with 156 seats which departs Dubai every Sunday at 2255 hrs, via Bahrain, and reaches Larnaca 0255 hrs next day, in time for convenient early morning connecting flights to European destinations.
