The Centre for Asia Pacific Aviation
has appointed Manchester-based David Bentley as its new Manager, UK & Ireland.
Managing Director, Peter Harbison, stated, “The Centre is excited to be expanding our network to the UK/Ireland. David is an
experienced aviation consultant and analyst and will add a new dimension to The Centre’s expanding airport activities”.
“The airport sector is undergoing dynamic changes, stimulated by increasing government liberalisation, moves toward
privatisation and the impacts of the evolving airline market – not least of which is the emerging low cost airline sector”, said
Peter Harbison. “European companies are increasingly focussed on opportunities in Asia. The Centre is expanding its coverage
of airport issues in its publications and developing its consulting capability in this area to take advantage of the myriad new
opportunities”, continued Mr Harbison.
David Bentley recently compiled the 210 page “Global Airport Privatisation 2005” management report, edited and published by
The Centre. He will be involved in the development of a range of new titles and newsletters, including the “Global Airport
Investor” monthly report into airport finance and privatisation issues, due to be launched by the end of 2004.
The Centre presently publishes nine regular titles on the aviation industry. Among them is “Peanuts! The Low Cost Airline
Weekly” - the only business-to-business magazine devoted exclusively to the burgeoning global low cost airline industry.
The Centre has also recently opened an office in New Delhi, to take advantage of new opportunities in the rapidly developing
Indian Subcontinent and Middle East aviation markets. A Singapore regional office opened in 2002.
Conference organisation has also become a new focus for The Centre in 2004, when it held three Low Cost Airline Symposiums
in Singapore, Macau and Delhi. A major conference entitled “Asia Pacific/Middle East Aviation and Tourism Outlook 2005”
together with the Second Annual Asia Pacific Low Cost Airline Symposium will take place back-to-back in Singapore, on 23-27
January 2005. Three further airline and airport related conferences are planned for the year ahead.
