The Balé to offer 'Healing Stone Therapies' by Terry Liew

Travel News Asia 20 February 2004

The Balé, a Sanctuary Resort in Nusa Dua Bali, is once again bringing a new range of holistic treatments to emphasize its philosophy in balancing body, mind and spirit.

After successful programs in Chinese Medicine with Daniel Reid and ongoing Yoga & Meditation programs with Yoga Instructor David West, the luxurious property is now inviting Shiatsu Master Terry Liew to share his knowledge in Japanese healing techniques for in house and non-residents at The Sanctuary Spa.

Terry, the founder of The Shiatsu School in Singapore, has been teaching and practicing shiatsu for more than 7 years.

He combines ancient Japanese Massage and Shiatsu techniques with the western scientific empirical data on the semi precious stones to introduce simple yet powerful healing treatment.

Besides being certified in Shiatsu from the Japanese Massage and Bodywork Institute, he had also learned other disciplines overseas, such as: Aromatherapy in the UK, Manual Lymphatic Drainage in Germany, Stretching Exercises in US and Myofascial Release in Australia.

Terry studied Shiatsu 18 years ago, when he had to take a medical leave for many months due to a back injury, it was then that Terry found out that Shiatsu methods were most effective in resolving his back pain. Since then, he started to learn with few different teachers until he could understand the philosophies and techniques better.

His Shiatsu School has offered numerous on-site workshop and seminars to the public and private organizations, and has been featured in leading newspapers, radio, magazines, and televisions in Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Hong Kong, Japan and Cambodia.

The Master in Residence program with Terry Liew at The Balé introduces Stretching sessions, Fresh Fruits Facial Workshops, private Shiatsu sessions and the amazing Healing Stones Therapies using several types of semi precious stones otherwise known as crystals or minerals.

Among some of them: Snowflake Obsidian which is used to improve blood circulation and treats the skeletal structure, Unakite used to stimulate heart or Aventurine which soothe the heart during emotional imbalance.

Sanctuary Resorts manages several resorts in Asia including The Racha on Racha Island - just off Phuket, Shinta Mani in Siam Reap, Cambodia and two new properties currently under development: The Hotel de la Paix also in Siam Reap and La Flora, in Kao Lak next to the Kao Lak National Park in Thailand.
