The aggressive marketing and promotional agenda being pursued by the Dubai
Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM) to broaden awareness
about Dubai has been given a major push with Dubai getting on to the Earth
Television’s worldwide network of cameras for daily live broadcasts to millions
of people across the world.
The networking got off to a colorful start and captured the spectacular shots of
Dubai's New Year Eve fireworks for the network’s TimeLapse special programme
broadcast in Belgium, Hong Kong, pan-Asia, Portugal, Turkey and the UK.
The special broadcast was shown on different TV channels including n-TV and
RTL (Germany), Voyage (France), InterTV (Ukraine), RTL (Belgium), Travel
Channel (UK), SIC24 (Portugal), CNN (Turkey), TVN 24 (Poland), TV today
(India)and TVB (Asia).
The DTCM Director Operations and Marketing, Mr. Mohammed Khamis bin
Hareb, said: “The earthTV has chosen the most fascinating locations around the world
to make up its live and interactive programmes. This network would have been
incomplete without hot-spot Dubai and its iconic Burj Al Arab hotel which has
become as much a point of reference for visitors to Dubai as the Opera House is
to Sydney.”
Part of Germany’s TELCAST Media Group, earthTV goes beyond the glossy and
offers viewers what is going on in the world live and in real time, from Hong
Kong to Honolulu, and Dubai to Dublin.
The TELCAST clients include renowned international broadcasters in over 50
countries. The news and travel programmes on the 24-hour network highlight
the world's most interesting destinations and travel hot spots like Dubai.
It is said to be the world's largest remote-controlled broadcast camera network,
with 60 cameras and counting. Dubai is earthTV's first Middle East camera
destination. The camera is located atop the Mina A´ Salam, a superb location
offering excellent views of the pristine Arabian Gulf.
The earthTV programmes that highlights Dubai include Motion TimeLapse, a
stunning 30 or 60 second show that pans 360 degrees, condensing an entire day
into a fast-moving segment; and EarthQuiz, a three-minute show that challenges
viewers to guess the destination based on very tight camera shots and editorial
clues.
The other programmes are Travel and Business Weather, a 60 second look at the
day's weather conditions in the major world cities with live images, and the
World LIVE!, a 90 second globetrot of the world's hottest destinations with an
earthTV’s signature soundtrack.
Mr. bin Hareb added: “The earthTV give audiences an alternative view of travel
and business destinations. Most exotic and beautiful locales are shown neatly
packaged in TV advertisements and outdoor posters, providing potential visitors
one single view chosen for its perfection and marketing value.”
A DTCM-funded initiative, the department assisted the Earth TV in the production
of programme segments and get permissions for installations of the camera.
Detailed information on Dubai and the site, as well as upcoming and on-going
Dubai events will be in the program segments. Additional features provided by
earthTV are a link on the earthTV’s website to Dubai’s website, detailed monthly
report, and the use of live broadcast signal locally (Germany).
The earthTV network commenced as the department’s high-pitched global
advertising campaign was folding up after a four-month run coinciding with the
tourist season in several parts of the world. |
