PATA today presented special awards at the
53rd PATA Annual Conference on Jeju to recognise the outstanding achievements of two of its 70-plus worldwide chapters.
The PATA Micronesia Chapter earned an Award of Excellence for its commitment
to conducting quarterly chapter meetings, monthly teleconferences and a full
programme of chapter activities, despite a unique geographical handicap. The
distances between island groups in the Pacific Island nation make it difficult for
Chapter members to meet.
The PATA Singapore Chapter won the Spirit of PATA Award for serving the aims
and objectives of PATA consistently and progressively over a number of years. An
example of PATA Singapore Chapters vision was in April 2003, when at the 52nd
PATA Annual Conference on Bali, the Chapter purchased about US$6,000 worth
of local Balinese handicrafts and donated them to the PATA Foundation Silent
Auction. This unique chapter activity benefited the local Balinese community as
well as the PATA Foundation. |
